Irene Newman, 82, of Henderson, Nevada, and formerly of Vallejo, California, died in her home in Henderson after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born to the late Gertrude and William Pfeifer in rural St. Nazianz. In 1941, she married Robert Harvey Newman in St. Nazianz. In 1991, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Bob died in 1993.
She is survived by two sons, one granddaughter; two sisters, Rose Evensen of Henderson, Thecla Bertsche of St. Nazianz; two brothers,George (Marie) of Cleveland and William (Ruth); and one sister-in-law, Florence (Arthur); and one sister-in-law, Florence (Arthur), all of
Sheboygan; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Preceding her in death were one brother, Arthur, and one sister, Gertrude Zimmer Ramminger.
A memorial service will take place in Henderson on May 2. Entombment will be in St. Nazianz following the service. - June 27, 1984
