Mrs. Barbara Meyer, age 90, of Ferrysburg passed away October 18, 2012 at Heartwood Lodge to join her Lord and loved ones in Heaven. She was born March 31, 1922 in Grand Rapids to the late Rudolph & Irene (Barnes) Schmidt. Barb married Donald Meyer on January 22, 1954 in Grand Haven. He passed away July 14, 1988. She worked at her father's grocery store (Rudy's Market until moving to Spring Lake in 1950 and retired as a bookkeeper for Tri-City Oil Co. after 31 years of service. Barb was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, member of the Grand Haven Eagles and Elks, life time member of the auxiliary's of American Legion #28, VFW #2326, Coast Guard, and North Ottawa Community Hospital. She is survived by her loving family; sister, Peggy Keenan and brother, James (Phyllis) Schmidt both of Grand Rapids, a step son Jeff Meyer, a brother-in-law, Dr. Jack Sikors of Wills Point, TX., step-brother, David (Lil) Mohan, Grand Rapids, special friends, Linsey (Marcus) Joseph of Spring Lake and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sister, Shirley Sikors and 2 brothers, Bernie & Tommy Schmidt. The Funeral Service for Barb will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at the Klaassen Family Funeral Home with Father Dan De Pew officiating. Interment will be in Spring Lake Cemetery.
