Harley R. Johannes, age 81, of Wautoma, passed away Wednesday afternoon, April 11, 2012 at Wild Rose Manor.

He was born on the family farm December 19, 1930 in the Township of Deerfield, Waushara County, the son of Thomas and Alvina (Bliske) Johannes.

While growing up, Harley worked on the family farm as a farm hand for Arden and Henry Johannes. He also worked at a travelling saw mill. In his younger years when he wasn't working, he especially enjoyed playing baseball. Harley then worked 26 years at Kieckhafer Box Factory in Wild Rose. Harley enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as watching western shows like Bonanza and listening to music, especially Polka. Harley was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wautoma. He was recently named the Resident of the Week at Wild Rose Manor from March 19-25th.

He is survived by his sisters, Marian (the late Edward) Christensen and Anna (the late Warren) Furst, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Donald, Melvin, Frank and Sylvester.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Harley R. Johannes will be held on Monday, April 16, 2012 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wautoma at 11:00am with Rev. Anthony Klink officiating. He will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery, Wautoma. Relatives and friends may call on Monday from 9:00am until the time of services at the Church.
