She was a native of Harris, Ga., and had been a resident of Palatka for the past 54 years, coming from Seville. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church from 1945 until 1983. She was a member of Peniel Baptist Church. She was retired from the Putnam County School Board, where she worked for 14 years in food service. She enjoyed tending to her garden and canning. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother; great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sylvania and Susie Wright; two sisters, Mary Steward and Sally Harriett and five brothers, Durward Wright, Ted Wright, Marion Wright, Bill Wright and Edwin Wright.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Henry Orso Carter of Palatka; two daughters and son-in-law, Dorothy and Donald Causey of Palatka and Marian Mueller of Winter Springs; one son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Margaret Carter of Palatka; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services and video tribute will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 8, at Peniel Baptist Church with Rev. Dannie Williams and Rev. Jesse Wooten officiating. Entombment will follow in Palatka Memorial Gardens.
