Daniel P. Fischer

Daniel P. Fischer, age 90, a rural Cato resident, passed away Sunday evening, Dec. 3, 2006, at the family residence surrounded by his family.

Daniel was born April 28, 1916, in the town of Holland, Brown County. He was the son of the late Herman and Dora Stradel Fischer. He attended West Wayside School and St. Michael's School in Whitelaw. On Nov. 12, 1941, he was married to Marie Hastreiter at St. Mary's Catholic Church at Clarks Mills. Together they farmed in the town of Cato until he retired. Daniel was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church along with being a member of the Holy Name Society of the church. For 26 years he was the sexton at the parish cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years: Marie; one son and daughter-in-law: Michael and Susan Fischer, rural Cato; five daughters and sons-in-law: Charlotte and Tony Schambureck, Valders; Mary and Joseph Getsfried, Kaukauna; Barbara and Gary Hopfensperger, Wild Rose; Kathy and Paul Sattler, Maribel; Susan and Peter Popp, St. Nazianz; 10 grandchildren: Dean Fischer, Kris Harris, Mark Schambureck, Daniel Schambureck, Anthony C. Schambureck, Sarah (Tim) Hadley, Chris Hopfensperger, Steven Sattler, Melissa Sattler, Amanda Sattler; 12 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, along with other relatives and friends surviving. He was preceded in death by his parents: Herman and Dora Fischer; one son: Paul on Oct. 18, 1991; six brothers and two sisters-in-law: Edwin, Herman, William (Tillie), Ben (Arlene) Reuben, and Joseph Fischer; seven sisters and brothers-in-law: Cecelia (Charles) Wilhelm, Helen (Joseph) Schuh, Anna (Ed) Pettinger, Mary (Ed) Geiger, Renata (Joseph) Pritzl, Clara (William) Urban and Monica (John) Fogeltanz.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Clarks Mills. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. James Jugenheimer, with burial to follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Clarks Mills. Relatives and friends may call at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service to be held at 7:30 p.m. lead by Deacon Tom Koch.
