JOHN E. MCCARTHY (d. 1965)

John E. McCarthy, 80, of Rt. 1, Cato, died Saturday at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc after a short illness.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Reedsville Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Clarks Mills. The Rev. Henry Arens will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. McCarthy was born October 21, 1885 at Menden, Neb., son of the late John and Hannah Cavanaugh McCarthy. He married Margaret Nate June 4, 1914 at St. Patrick Catholic church, Maple Grove and the couple farmed in the Town of Cato. He was assessor in the township a number of years, charter
member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and member of the Holy Name Society.

Surviving are his wife, five daughters, Mrs. Elmer (Lorraine) Fischer and Mrs. Edwin (Marjorie) Engelbrecht of Manitowoc, Mrs. Frank (Loretta) Bartel of Sheboygan, Mrs. Lester (Veronica) Gerl of Valders and Mrs. Pat (Charlotte)
Keeley of Japan; two sons, Earl of Manitowoc and Leroy at home; three sisters, Mrs. Otto Wagner of Chilton, Mrs. Jess Johnson of Rt. 1, Valders and Mrs. Loretta Johnson of Manitowoc; 15 granchildren and four greatgrandchildren.
Four brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.

Friends may call at the funeral home where at 7:30 o'clock this Monday evening,members of the Holy Name Society will recite the Rosary and at 8 o'clock Father
Arens will conduct the parish vigil.
