JOHANNA STRAUSS

Johanna Sophie Strauss, 87, of Clarks Mills, passed away Wednesday morning, October 2, 1991 at her residence. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Clarks Mills, Rev. John Conrad officiating with burial in the church cemetery.

She was born June 24, 1904 in Clarks Mills, daughter of the late Frank and Mary Peck Pieschel. She attended St. Mary’s School at Clarks Mills. She married Frank Strauss February 22, 1922 at Clarks Mills. She was very involved in the foster home program for many years. She was a member of the Manitowoc County Foster Parent Association and received a certificate for being the oldest parent. She was also a member of St. Mary’s Christian Mothers, the Valders American Legion Auxiliary and the Oslo Friendly Neighbors Homemakers.

Survivors include five sons and daughters-in-law: Herold and Rosemary of Manitowoc, Sylvester and Shirley of Manitowoc, Ralph and Muriel of Manitowoc, Robert and Lucille of Manitowoc, Francis and Lorraine of Cato; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Viola Hebert of Calif., Rosalie and Dr. Jerry Dragovich of Seattle, Wash., Shirley and Douglas Emond of Mishicot, Judy and Ronald Schaller of Kiel; two daughters-in-law, Geraldine Strauss of Manitowoc, Therese Strauss of Manitowoc; 50 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren and several great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, three sons, Wilbert, LeRoy and William, four brothers, three sisters and one granddaughter.

She was a very loving and unselfish mother and grandmother who loved her flowers and gardening.
Friends may call at Christianson-Deja Funeral Home, Valders from 6-9 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. A Parish Prayer service will be held at 8 p.m. Friday.
