Catharine Oldrin was the daughter of Long Island NY natives William Freyenhagen (1786-1867) and Mary Whealey (1791-1868).

She married English native Edward Oldrin, an itinerant Methodist minister.

They had the following children:
Mary (1834-1905) m Joshua Billard
John Merwin Oldrin (1836-1903)
Edward (1844-1883)
Phebe Ann Elizabeth (c.1846 - 1921)
Catharine (c.1849-1924) m Melville Kelsey Sarah Helen Eudora (1852-1928) m George Howard Bachelder Hannah Amelia (1856-1918) m Hiram Bedell In the 1850 US Census, a “Rebecca age 5” appears in Catharine’s household, but her son Edward, who would also have been 5, does not appear. In the 1860 US Census, a “Rebecca” does not appear, but “Edw. age 15” does. Most likely therefore, “Rebecca” in the 1850 Census was a mistake for her son Edward.

Catharine’s will (dated Feb 25 1879) named all her children as heirs except Edward, who had died. It also named her grandson Edward Oldrin, son of Edward Oldrin, who was age 16 in 1888, as an heir. One of Catharine’s brothers, Charles W. Freyenhagen, and one of her daughters, Phebe Ann Elizabeth Oldrin, were named executors.

Because Charles and Phebe Ann Elizabeth had to sell Catharine’s Brooklyn real property to pay off her debts, her estate dragged out until 1897, at which time the final account proceeding named 3 additional grandchildren as heirs-at-law: Julia E. Slater (age 18 in 1888), Willis G. Oldrin (over 14 in 1897), and John B. Oldrin.
