James F. Gribler, 91, Catherine Route, Hays, died Saturday, Oct. 22, at St. Anthony Hospital.

He was born July 10, 1892 at Catherine, the son of Joseph A. and Dorothy (Karlin) Giebler.

He married Virginia Koerner on Jan. 13, 1914 at Catherine. He was a church organist for 75 years and was a retired farmer and oil field worker.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; four sons, Joseph, Grand Junction, Colo., James E., Kenneth A. and Vernon D., all of Hays; eight daughters, Mrs. Henri Loretta Stecklein, Munjor, Mrs. Richard Sylvia Stecklein, Pratt, Mrs. Alvin Ventura Weigel, Victoria, Mrs. N. W. Ruth Carter, Jacksonville, Fla., Alice Schneider, WaKenney, Lorraine L. Dreiling, Hays, Rita Mae Desch, Boulder, Colo., Norma Jean Rupp, Hays; two sisters, Seraphine Haas, Menasha, Wis., Mrs. John Getz, Deming, N.M.; a step-brother, Servillian Meis, Catherine; two step-sisters, Mrs. Jessie Keberlein, Hays, and Mrs. Sally Orth, Manitowoc, Wis.; two half-sisters, Mrs. Lucile Weigel, Hays, and Mrs. Angie Billinger, Victoria; 44 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren.

Services were at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, burial was in the church cemetery.
