Samuel Van (Rip) Marchand, age 93 years of Newell, Pa., died Saturday May 1, 1965 at 6:15 p.m. in the home of his son, Clyde Marchand of Newell, Pa. He was born in Newell, Pa., August 14, 1871, a son of the late Lucius A. and Minerva Vandruff Marchand. He was a retired employee of the Pittsburgh and Lake Erie Railroad from the Newell office. He is survived by three sons, Lucius of Youngstown, Ohio and Lewis and Clyde both of Newell, Pa.; two daughters Mrs. Ruth Komer of Youngstown, Ohio and Mrs. Jane Evans of Newell, Pa.; thirteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister Mrs. Gertrude Sickles of McKeesport, Pa.
