Evaline Mitchell, 105, of Bozeman, passed away Sept. 25, 2010. She was born June 4, 1905, in the Springhill community to Noah and Lydia (Dale) Bennett. Evaline grew up in the upper basin, just above Maudlow; she attended the Lincoln School through eighth grade. In the summers she worked for Mamie and Frank Morgan.
Evaline married Oscar Callantine on Dec. 23, 1922; they lived out at the Callantine section of Bremmer Creek, settling in Maudlow in 1934. In 1961 Evaline and Oscar moved to Bozeman, she was a cook at the college for 10 years in the Lewis and Clark Hall. Evaline was a superb cook, her specialties being bread as well as chicken and noodles. She loved cooking, camping and fishing, especially 16 Mile Creek.
Oscar died in 1980. In 1985, Evaline married Irwin Mitchell, and they enjoyed traveling to bowling tournaments with their children.
After Irwin died in 1993, Evaline moved to Churchill and lived there until 2007, when she moved back to Bozeman to reside at Mountain View Care Center.
She was preceded in death by her husbands; son, James Oscar Callantine; daughter, Vernie Martilla; four sons-in-law; eight siblings; and two great-grandsons.
Survivors include her daughters, Virginia Miller of Bozeman and Ethel DeBates of Logan; two stepdaughters, Shirley Wisner and Joyce Santos, both of Bozeman; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-
grandchildren; 35 great-great-grandchildren; four sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside memorial service will be held 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010, at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Family and friends to meet at Dahl Funeral Chapel at 10:45 a.m. for procession to
cemetery.
