He was born in Loraine, Wis., and moved to Yakima in 1939 when he received a temporary call to Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church. He received a permanent call to Grace in 1940 and while pastor there he was instrumental in starting Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church in Yakima and Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Zillah. He retired in 1971.
Survivors include his wife, Althea; a daughter, Rebecca Finney of Milton-Freewater, Ore.; three sisters, Alma Mueller of Jefferson, Wis., Sophie Gruenewald of Madison, Wis., and Katherine Dahlke of Port Orchard; and four grandchildren.
A service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Grace Lutheran Church. Burial and concluding services will follow at Terrace Heights Memorial Park. Keith & Keith Funeral Home, Yakima, is in charge of arrangements
