Bill (Senator) Scruggs went to the Lord on Jan. 22, 2013, after a long illness. His remains were cremated.
He was born Dec. 25, 1926, in Birta Ark., the youngest child of William F. and Mattie (Boyce) Scruggs.
He married Jennifer Wilson on Jan. 23, 1968.
Bill was a veteran of WWII, worked at Tinker, IBM, Volrath Cookware, Kirby, Rock Island RR and in advertising. He also worked as an extra in Hollywood films and was employed by Howard Hughes Jr. for a time.
Bill also was an avid golfer and fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a son, Gregory Joe Scruggs, siblings, Nina (Parker) Schweizerhof, Jay (Killer) Parker, Demp Scruggs, Thelma (Scruggs) Crawford, Wanda (Scruggs) Cochrane, and Vonda (Scruggs) Stephens.
Bill is survived by children, Cassie Taber, Tammy Baxter, Eric Scruggs, and Hollie Scruggs; grandchildren, Jerad Shealene, Bryar, Christopher, Elora, Corban, Sam, Bryce, and Joel; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be from 2 to 4 p.m., Feb. 24, at the Shawnee Public Library in Room A. Family and friends are invited. Memorials should be sent to 1421 Rickey Rd., Shawnee, OK 74804, in care of Tammy Baxter.
