Margaret and James had twelve children but she outlived six of them.

Margaret Deegan Succumbs At Home of Her Daughter -

Margaret Deegan, 90, died yesterday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mary Overman, 1406 Seabright avenue.
Mrs. Deegan lived in Santa Cruz for the last two months, coming here from Glasgow, Montana, where she resided for 70 years. She was a native of Winnipeg, Canada.
She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Overman; Mrs. Emily Jaycox of Glasgow, Mont.; Mrs. May Bryant of Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. Margaret Hansen of Hinsdale, Mont.; and Mrs. Julia Witherbe of Chicago, Ill. She also is survived by a son, Allen Deegan of Seattle, Wash.; 27 grandchildren, 67 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Rosary services will be conducted at 8 p.m. tonight at the Irvin M. Smith chapel.
Last rites and burial will be at Hinsdale, Mont., next Friday. Irvin M. Smith is in charge of local funeral arrangements.

Services For Mrs. Margaret Deegan, Will Be Held In Hinsdale Friday


HINSDALE - Funeral services will be held Friday morning at St. Albert's Catholic church in Hinsdale for Mrs. Margaret Deegan, 90, pioneer Valley county resident. The Holland mortuary will be in charge.
Mrs. Deegan died Saturday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Allen Overman, in Santa Cruz, Calif., where she had gone with another daughter, Mrs. Millie Jaycox, a month ago to visit.
Margaret Deegan married James Deegan, Hudson's Bay company fur trader at Miles Crossing, north of Hinsdale, in 1882. Later they spent several years in North Dakota, returning to Hinsdale in 1887. Some years later they moved to Frazer, making their home there until 1921, when Mr. Deegan died. Mr. Deegan served as the first sheriff of Valley county.
She had since made her home in Glasgow.
Survivors are five daughters, Mrs. Jaycox, Mrs. Overman, Mrs. Margaret Hansen of Hinsdale, Mrs. May Bryant of Tacoma, Wash., and Mrs. Julia Weatherbee of Chicago, and a son, Allen Deegan of Seattle.
A sister, Philomene Belgard, lives in Helena.
Also surviving are 25 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Pallbearers at Friday's rites, all grandsons, will be Melvin Weasa of Elko, Nev.; Milton Jaycox, Walter Hansen and Glen Olson of Glasgow; Harry D. Jaycox of Kalispell and Dwight Bridges of Frazer.
