James "DEMO" Childress was born in November 30, 1948 to George E. and Myrtle Childress.

Demo was in the US Army and was a Vietnam Vet.

In June of 1972 at an early age of 23 he passed away due to an auto accident.

He at that time was survived by his daughter Chris, his father George E. Childress, two brothers George J. and Michael Childress, three sisters Faye Stafford, Anne Parchman and Joan May.

Obit: James E. Childress, as 23, of 4840 Olcott Ave., East Chicago, passes away Tuesday, June 27 at St. Margaret Hospital. Survivors: Daughter, Chris of Gary; father, George E. Childress of Ripley, Tenn., two brothers, George J. of East Chicago and Michael of Ripley, Tenn.; three sisters Mrs. Faye Stafford of East Gary, Mrs. Anne Parchman of Ripley, Tenn., Mrs. Joan May of Hessville. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 1 from the Curry Funeral Home, Dyersburg, Tenn., Burial Fairview Cemetery, Dyersburg, Tenn. There will be no local visitation. Virgil Huber Funeral Home, 7051 Kennedy, Hessville, in charge of local arrangements. Mr. Childress was a former resident of East Gary.
