Warranna Ruth Blaisdell Blum was born in E. Franklin, Maine on July 29, 1917 to the Rev. T. L. Blaisdell and his wife Bessie. She was named for her Uncle Warren and Aunt Anna and grew up with her older brothers, Truman Lloyd (1911–1999), Hinton Markus (Mark) (1914–2009), Dwight Gordon (1916–1999) and younger sister Bessie Margaret Bryant (1921–2007).

Her family first landed on Maine's rocky coast in 1600's from Suffolk County, England and Clan Gordon of Scotland. Her lineage ran back to the Earl of Oxford and Surrey, King Henry the 3rd and Roger Bigoc, Magna Charta Baron.

Rev. Blaisdell moved his young family cross country to Washington State and Puget Sound. There Anne graduated from Lincoln High in Seattle, then on to the Music and Drama Dept's at the University of Washington. Her first teaching job was at Sequim High School, leading the Cherubim and Seraphim there as Choir Director and Music Teacher.

When Ensign H. J. Blum needed a soprano soloist for the Mozart Mass he had organized at the Bremerton Naval Shipyard, the Methodist Minister's daughter from across the Sound in Port Orchard answered the call... and here we are. They landed in Charleston South Carolina with the US Navy and then married in Euclid,Ohio, in June of 1945 on the shore of Lake Erie at his parents' home. There they started a family, first Carole Anne, then John Phillip. They then followed his sister Antoinette to San Francisco, where Jack fell in love with Northern California... the Golden Gate, Yosemite and the High Sierra. Jack took his family east for a year in Buffalo New York, but quickly returned to the West Coast and soon the Santa Clara Valley. Anne was busy being a full time mom as Melanie Jean was born on San Francisco Bay. Waranna briefly returned to teaching as Jack established his business, then became a full time homemaker in the Almaden Valley... always involved in music, church choir and private teaching. After the kids moved on to college she stayed on the family ranch in San Martin before joining Jack in the Old Gold Country of Calaveras County. They then moved to Lodi and finally settled in Acampo on the world famous Wine Trail where Jack could live his dream of being a Little Old Winemaker. They soon became fixtures in the Church Choir at Lodi Methodist until failing health limited her activities. The pair enjoyed watching baseball especially during the most exciting season of 1989 and the Bay Bridge Series... with an earthquake on top. She stayed happy and comfortable, greatly entertained, watching the world and seasons change the gardens, the vineyards and orchards, from what Jack called "Her Winter Quarters", the huge window in front of the massive stone fireplace that kept her warm all winter. She stayed in constant contact with her children, grandsons and friends until she passed peacefully on to the next World on the Ides of March 2001.
