(II) James , son of Samuel Blair , was born in Franklin township , April 16, 1793 , and died December 27, 1877 . He grew up in Franklin township , and bought a small farm therein. Soon selling this, he purchased one hundred and ten acres in Perry township , about the year 1825 , and in 1832 he built on this land a fine red brick house which is still standing and is occupied by his son Christopher Blair ; there is hardly a crack in its walls. Later he bought ninety acres more, about 1850 , and became quite prosperous. He was drafted for the war of 1812 , but the war ended before he had actually served, when he was about to start. He served as school director, and held other township offices. In his later years he was a Republican. He and his wife were members of the Flatwoods Baptist church.

He married (first) January 7, 1819 , Rhoda Rittenhouse , who was born March 21, 1796 , and died October 9, 1843 ;
(second) December 25, 1845 , Susanna Slonaker , who was born in Dunbar township, Fayette county, Pennsylvania , July 21, 1811 , and died July 5, 1898 . She was of German descent, her parents probably born in eastern Pennsylvania . Her father was a millwright, and settled in Dunbar township, Fayette county, Pennsylvania , afterward removing to Tyrone township , west of Pennsville . Susanna was the youngest of five children, the others being: 1. Jacob , a real estate speculator, and lived at Dawson, Pennsylvania . 2. Christopher , a farmer, lived and died near Pennsylvania . 3. Elizabeth , died unmarried, in Perry township . 4. Jane , married Mr. Overholt ; she died in Peoria , Illinois .

Children of James Blair , all except the last-named three by first wife:
1. Sarali , deceased, married John Bell , he was a wagon maker of Perryopolis, Fayette county, Pennsylvania .
2. David , deceased; he was a farmer in Franklin township , but afterward removed to Iowa .
3. Robert , deceased; he was a farmer and a Baptist local preacher; for fifteen years he lived in Iowa , but returned to Pennsylvania , living in Perry township .
4. James , deceased; he was a farmer in Perry township all his life.
5. Samuel Parkhill , born August 12, 1834 , died November 5, 1885 ; married Elizabeth Strickler ; all his life he was a farmer in Perry township .

9. Christopher , born October 8, 1846 , a prominent farmer of Perry township , living on his father's old place.
