Twila Shoemaker Fearing, 77, of 1622 New Hampshire, Lawrence, died Monday, October 25 at the Valleyview Care Home in Lawrence.

Mrs. Fearing was born March 10, 1906 in Centralia. She was the second daughter of Dr. and Mrs. W.S. Shoemaker, who preceded her in death. She also had four sisters who preceded her in death.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Lawrence and the Methodist Women. Her childhood was spent in Centralia and she graduated from the Centralia High School. In 1927 she received her bachelors degree from Kansas University where she also received her masters degree in 1936.

Mrs. Fearing was a member of the KU Girl's Rifle Team, a member of Phi Beta Kappa, honor society, and Phi Lambda Theta Sorority.

She taught school at Great Bend from 1927-1936. In 1936, she moved to Lawrence and taught in the Lawrence High School until 1940. She also taught Sunday school at the First United Methodist Church for many years.

She was married to Albert Fearing June 20, 1940 at Centralia. He survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Dvorak, Pawtucket, Rhode Island, and Mrs. Julia Thomas, St. Paul, Kansas; two sons, Franklin Fearing, Bay Village, Ohio, and Harold Fearing, Vancouver, British Columbia; three sisters, Mrs. Violet Thomas and Mrs. Wava Jane Allen, both of Centralia, Mrs. Hazel Newlin, Horton, and eight grandchildren.

Services were held Thursday at Warren--McElwain Mortuary, Lawrence, with the Rev. Virgil Brady officiating. Burial was at Topeka's Mount Hope Cemetery.
