"Raymond E. Abbott, 56, of Route 5, Poestenkill, died unexpectedly Tuesday at his home following a heart attack. He lived in Poestenkill all of his life and was a Marine veteran of World War II. He was employed by St. Johnsbury Trucking of Latham, formerly Woodin's Express. He was a member of Teamster's Local 294 and the Poestenkill Fire Company. He was a communicant of St. Jude's Church in Wynantskill. He was the husband of Virginia Kellerman Abbott and the father of Linda R. Abbott of Poestenkill, John R. Abbott of Fort Edward and the late Todd M. Abbott. He was the son of Alida Pitcher Abbott of Troy and the late Homer A. Abbott. He was the brother of Mrs. James (Frances) Ryan of Troy, Waldo W. Abbott of Meridan, Ct., Mrs. Fred (Bessie) Heffner and Mrs. Ernest (Thela) Naylor, both of Wynantskill and the late Harvey Abbott, George Abbott, Dorothy Johnston and Robert Abbott. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. His funeral will be Friday at 9 a.m. from the Thomas S. Connolly Funeral Home, 194 Whiteview Road, Wynantskill, and from St. Jude the Apostle Church at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery Troy.
