"Homer A. Abbott, 83, of Poestenkill, retired dairy farmer and former employe of Hastings Ice and Fuel Co., died today at Hallmark Nursing Home after a long illness. Mr. Abbott was born in Poestenkill and resided in the area all of his life. He operated a dairy farm and milk route from 1908-1927, a fruit and vegetable stand from his home and later was employed by the ice and fuel firm, retiring in 1955. He was a former member of Diamond Rock Lodge, IOOF and a member of Third Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife, the former Alida Pitcher; four daughters, Mrs. James Ryan of Troy, Mrs. R. Nelson Johnston of Center Brunswick and Mrs. Ernest J. Naylor and Mrs. Frederick Heffner, both of Wynantskill; three sons, Waldo W. Abbott of Meriden, Conn., Robert C. Abbott of Cropseyville and Raymond E. Abbott of Poestenkill; 19 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. from the Himes Funeral Home, 160 Pawling Ave., with Rev. Russell F. Pater, pastor of First Reformed Church of Wynantskill, officiating.
