Isaac W. Maphis
Isaac William "Ike" Maphis, 93, of Romney, W. Va., died Tuesday, July 4, 2006, at Hampshire Long Term Care in Romney.
Mr. Maphis was born March 18, 1913, in Romney, the son of John Wade and Mary Eva Beatty Maphis.
He was a retired independent coal distributor. He also was retired from Koppers Industry Inc. in Green Spring, W.Va.
He was a member of Romney First United Methodist Church.
His wife, Cathryn B. "Kate" Maphis, is deceased.
Surviving are two sons, Don Maphis of Moneta and Roger Paul Maphis of Virginia Beach; a brother, the Rev. Robert W. Maphis of Richmond; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Five brothers, Dailey L Maphis, Garland " Gene" Maphis, Paul Maphis, Marvin ‘Tom" Maphis, and Allen C. Maphis; and two sisters, Beulah Wells and Faye Maphis, are deceased.
A funeral will be at noon Friday at Romney First United Methodist Church, with Dr. Roy Knight officiating. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery, Romney.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
Shaffer-Warnick Funeral Home, Romney, W.Va., is handling arrangements.
