Romney – John H. Maphis, 79, Romney, died in Hampshire Memorial Hospital Friday.
He was a son of the late William and Sarah (Reed) Maphis, Romney.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary Eza (Beatty) Maphis; a daughter, Mrs. Beulah Reynolds, Romney; seven sons, Isaac W., Marvin (Tommy), Dailey L., Garland (Gene) E., and Paul M. Maphis, all of Romney, Allen C. Maphis, Clarksburg, and Robert W. Maphis, Nashville, Tenn.; a brother Isaac N. Maphis, Keyser; and 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
The body is at the Shaffer Funeral Home, Romney, where friends will be received today from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.
Service will be held in Romney Christian Church tomorrow at 3 p.m. with Rev. Raymond Martin officiating. Interment will be in Ebenezer Cemetery near Romney.
