OBITUARY of March 20, 1907 in Milton, Iowa
David Davis was born in Noble county, Ohio, May 22, 1833, the son of David Davis and Hester Hart. He died at his home in Milton, Iowa, March 16, 1907 at the age of 73 years, 9 months, 24 days. In 1854, he was united in marriage to Rachel Ann Bond.In 1857, they removed from Ohio to Iowa and settled in Van Buren township, Van Buren, Iowa. His wife died in 1866. He married Elizabeth Bond on May 5, 1866, and to this union were born three sons: Henry, Archie & David Franklin.He was married to Sarah Elizabeth Workman on Oct 9, 1890, since which time he has resided near Lebanon,Iowa and in Milton,Iowa till his death. He united with the Baptist Church in 1877 in which church he remained till 1892 when he united with the Methodist church. He always endeavored to be true and loyal to the church of Christ. He took sick thirteen months ago, and most of the time since has been unable to leave his home. Through the many months of his affliction he was kind and patient and died with a firm and steadfast faith in Him who said "I am the resurrection and the life."He had eight children: one infant son James and two daughters, Cornelia Fogg and Eliza Jane Tatman, preceded their father to the home above. Those living are John Elbert of Milton, Iowa; William Emmett of Fallon, Nevada; and Henry, Archie and Frank of Emporia, Kansas. Funeral services were held in the M.E. Church, Monday at 11:3- a.m., conducted by Rev. D. R. Martin. Interment in the new cemetery, Sunnyside, at Milton, Iowa.
