Emma Alice Torrance was the daughter of William Sinclair Torrance and Mary Jane Whitcomb. She was born at Milwaukie, in Clackamas County of Oregon Territory in June 1865.

In 1884, Emma married Hiram Bolin Savage, a blacksmith and repairman who had settled in Whitman County, Washington Territory. Two sons were born there: Loren and Leslie Savage.

MRS. EMMA SAVAGE - Mrs. Emma Savage, 62, a native Oregonian and daughter of Oregon pioneer parents, died Thursday at her home at Oswego. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.S. [sic: W.G.] Torrance and a granddaughter of Lot Whitcomb.

Besides her widower, Hiram B. Savage, she is survived by two sons, Loren and Leslie Savage, both of San Francisco, two brothers and four sisters. Funeral and interment to be announced later.

SAVAGE - Late of Oswego, Or., Emma A. Savage, aged 61 years, beloved wife of Hiram B. Savage, mother of Loren Savage of Oakland, Ca., Leslie L. Savage, Oswego, Or. Funeral services will be held today (Tuesday), May 24, at 11 A.M., at the residential chapel of Miller and Tracey. Interment at Lincoln Memorial park.
