Son of Joseph and Barbara (Miller) Mayer. Stepson of Morris Weaver, whose name he took. Married Martha T. Blyler of Frankstown. Died of typhoid. Father of Mary Jane Weaver (d in inf.) and Joseph Keech Weaver.

His tombstone erroneously gives his year of death as 1885, but the monument was not placed until his wife's death many years later.


Hollidaysburg Register, Wednesday, 1 Dec. 1875:

"WEAVER - Mr. Joseph Weaver, a member of the Juniata Riflemen, died in Gaysport on Saturday. He was buried on Monday afternoon with military honors by that company, and his remains were followed by a large concourse of relatives and friends."
