Verne C. Hamilton, 68, of 948 Brooks St., died on Monday in the university Hospital, Madison.
A Beloit resident since 1941, he was born on Nov. 9, 1911, in Friendship, Wis., the son of Fred and Lizzie (Tennant) Hamilton. He married Trumane Fay on June 28, 1933, in Wisconsin Rapids.
He was employed by Fairbanks Morse and Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1971. He was a member of the Fairbanks Quarter Century Club and a 30 year member of the Eagles Club.
Survivors include his wife, six sons, Sherman of Hancock, Wis., Carl, Larry, and Harry, all of Beloit, Ronald of Albany, Wis., and Lyle of Monroe, 20 grandchildren, two brothers, Ned of Coloma, Wis., and Warren of Wisconsin Rapids, and two sisters, Mrs. Louise Payne of Nekoosa, Wis., and Mrs. Ann Lyons of Oelwein, Iowa. He was predeceased by one daughter, Donna Beckwith, his parents, one grandson, one brother, two half brothers, Tom and Albert, and one half sister, Mae Rounds.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Rosman, Uehling, Kinzer Cranston Road Chapel with the Rev. James Mikkelson officiating. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Cemetery. Friends may call from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the Cranston Road Chapel.
