Marcella C. Guibord, 94, of Hayward, died Jan. 19, at Valley Health Care Center in Hayward.
She was born August 1, 1909 in Reserve, the daughter of Benjamin and Katherine (Martin) Gokey. She was united in marriage to Ernest “Pea Soup” Guibord on August 21, 1929 in Reserve. They moved to Milwaukee in 1952 where she worked as a seamstress for an upholstery company until they moved back to Reserve in 1962. Marcella then worked for Hazel Jonjak in the cranberry business, and also worked many years for the Green Thumb with Mary Poro and Margaret Taylor. Until her illness she was an area supervisor for the Foster Grandparents and Senior Companion Programs.
She is survived by her children Ernest Jr. (Mary) of Hayward, Vivian (Hans) Robertson of Stone Lake; 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren; brothers Gregory (Betty) Gokey and Ted (Juanita) Gokey, both of LCO, and John (Norma) Gokey of Sunnyvale, CA; sister Agnes LaRonge of LCO; and many nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ernest on Oct. 24, 2003, her daughter LaVonne Barber, and eight siblings.
Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial was conducted Jan. 22 at St. Francis Solanus Indian Mission in Reserve. Father Gregory Hopefl officiated, with music provided by Sister Felissa Zander.
Burial: St. Francis Cemetery.
Honorary casketbearers: Gregory, Ted and John Gokey and Steven Robertson Jr.
Casketbearers: Greg Gokey, Jr., Scott Guibord, Gary Quaderer Sr. and Brian, Howard and Skip Robertson.
