Altha Blanche MiIlis was born near Defiance, Iowa, January 10, 1885. She was married to Willard RIckman January 1, 1903. On October 26 last she met with an accident, when lighting a fire in the stove and was severely burned, she was removed to the home of her brother, Willie Millis where every effort thru medical skill and careful attention by a trained nurse, from CounciI Bluffs proved unavailing to overcome the fatal burns. She survived the suffering in patience and bore up bravely until December 11, when she passed peacefully away. The funeral services were held at the home of her brother last Sunday afternoon at two o'clock in change of the pastor of the First Congregational Church. Many sympathizing friends were present. Truly this was a sad accident and the community has felt the wave of sorrow that has arisen from this sudden taking away of two of its citizens.
