LUCY EVA FITZGERALD
Mrs. Lucy Eva Fitzgerald, 84, of 34 Cortland St., Homer, N.Y., died April 8, 1988, at Cortland (N.Y.) Memorial Hospital after a long illness. She was born April 16, 1903, in Homer, the daughter of Fred and Ella Chapman Hicks. Mrs. Fitzgerald was a former member of the Homer United Methodist Church. On May 7, 1921, she married Cornelius Fitzgerald who died in 1956. Surviving are three sons, Robert and Arthur, both of Homer, and Cornelius (Junie) Jr. of Cortland; five daughters, Mrs. Stanley (Ellen) Nowalk, Mrs. Leo (Louise) Riley, Mrs. Jerry (Mary) Henry and Mrs. Harold (Lillian) Batsford, all of Homer, Isabelle Petrie of Cortland; a sister, Katherine Aldrich of Cortland; 23 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three children, Evelyn Palladino, Daniel Fitzgerald and John Fitzgerald. Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 N. Main St., Homer, with the Rev. Norman J. Morris, pastor of Homer United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Cortland. Friends may call Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Homer Rescue Squad.
