On October 14, 1940, he was united in marriage to Lela H. Gilbertson in Dubuque, Iowa. Rudy will long be remembered as a Cheesemaker in the Lafayette County area for over forty years, moving into Darlington in 1975.

He is survived by two sons, Larry R. (JeanAnn) Willborn, David D. (Kay) Willborn, both of Madison, Carol K. (Jim) Hedman of Moline, Illinois; four grandchildren, Brad, Robyn, Michelle and Chad Willborn; two great-grandchildren, Avery and Nicklaus; four brothers, Ernest Willborn of Madison, William (Grace) Willborn, Herman Willborn of Argyle and John (Bobbi) Willborn of Daleyville, Wisconsin; and five sisters, Hulda (Grant) Disrud and Alice Gerber, both of Platteville, Lena (Bruce) Ligman of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Patty Jacobson of Monroe and Emma Wenger of Argyle.

He was preceded in death by his wife on April 3, 1986; and two brothers, Richard and Lester Willborn, both in 1994.

Rudy attended First Baptist Church in Darlington.

Rudy has served as a volunteer driver for Caring Hearts, and enjoyed working and visiting with his many friends at the Towne House in Darlington. Rudy enjoyed every mile he drove and fib he told. Rudy looked forward to each and every day, and always made someone smile, no matter how many people he had to talk to, and he talked to a lot of them!

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 29, 1997 at the FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH in Darlington, with Reverend Stewart Dix officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery, Darlington. Friends may call on Friday, November 28, 1997, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the ERICKSON FUNERAL HOME in Darlington.
