Mrs. D. P. Loyd Taken by Death

Funeral services were conducted for Mrs. Kate Montgomery Lloyd at the Higginbotham Funeral Chapel Monday of this week with Rev. T. J. Sparkman officiating, assisted by J. B. Sparkman.
Mrs. Lloyd was born Feb. 7, 1873, being 78 years, 7 months and 3 days of age at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Mr. And Mrs. Hime Beene, one of the truly pioneer families of Comanche. She was born in Comanche and had spent most of her life as a resident of Comanche and DeLeon. Mr. Lloyd preceded her in death some time ago.
Mrs. Lloyd had been seriously ill for several months and had spent much time in a hospital in Waco where death came to he Aug. 13, 1951.
Burial was in the DeLeon Cemetery. Funeral and burial services were in charge of the Higginbotham Funeral Department. Nephews were the pallbearers.
The following children survive: D. H. Lloyd, Greenwood, La; James H. Lloyd, Denver, Colo; Tom P. Lloyd, San Antonio; Mrs. C. E. Cooner, Shreveport, La, and Mrs. A. C. Stephens, Waco. Two grand daughters and two great-grand daughters also survive.
Three sisters survive as follows: Mrs. Vester Beck, DeLeon, Mrs. H. Matthews, Comanche and Mrs. Jas. DeWitt, Dublin.
She was a member of the Baptist Church and had lived and died in a faith that the reward for a righteous life was eternal.
The large gathering, the flowers and the beautiful service attest the esteem in which this good mother was held. Her noble life and her devotion to her companion through his long years of illness and the fine mother services impressed all who knew her that such a life was not lived in vain.
The many friends express their sympathies to this fine family in their hour of grief.
