Thomas was the youngest of nine children born to Aubrey Himez and Saleta Ann (Talley) Beene. He married Myrtle O'Lee McDonald and they had five children: Thomas Sterling, Grace Laverne, Martin Ottis, Donald Lester and Jesse Herman.

Tom Beene Dies
After Illness

Thomas H. Beene, 56, well known Comanche County farmer of the Shiloh community died at a Gorman hospital Tuesday May 23 following an illness of eighteen days. Funeral services were held at Shiloh Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock with Rev. Walter Scott of Brownwood officiating, assisted by Rev. T. N. Carter of Comanche and Rev. R. M. McGinnis of Gustine. Pall bearers were P. H. Brewer, Emmett Long, Arthur Bear, I. M. Vineyard, P. A. Pettit, and George Master.
Mr. Beene was a native of Comanche County, being the son of the late A. H. Beene, early settler of this county. He was a successful farmer and landowner and was a member of the Pettit Baptist Church.
On November 21, 194 he was married to Miss Myrtle McDonald who with the following children survive: Tom Beene, Jr., of Sweetwater, Mrs. W. B. Thomas of Merkel, D. L. Beene of Oildale, California, M. O. Beene, of Comanche, and J. H. Beene of Nacogdoches. Surviving also are Will Beene, a brother of Comanche, Mrs. J. D. Loyd of De Leon, Mrs. D. H. Matthews of Comanche, Mrs. James DeWitt of Comanche and Mrs. D. S. Beck of Comanche, sisters.
