Aubrey was the third of five children born to Joseph Hamilton and Jane (Blake) Beene. He married Saleta Ann Talley in 1861 and they had nine children, two of whom died in infancy: A. Hamilton, Sarah Elizabeth, Augustus Howard, Virginia Bell 'Jenny', Kate Montgomery, William Sterling, Ada Jane, Missouri Ann and Thomas Harris.

(Note: There seems to be a difference of opinion as to his name from several of his descendants I don't know which is correct).

A.H. Beene, a pioneer citizen of Comanche County, died at the home of his son, Tom Beene, eight miles northwest of Comanche. The burial took place at Taylor's Chapel. Mr. Beene was one of the well-known and honored citizens of Comanche County, he and his family having been numbered among the best people of this county for many years.
