Jenny was the fourth on nine children born to Aubrey Himaz and Saleta Ann (Tally) Beene. She married James Marion DeWitt in 1888 and they had five children: Rupert, (infant), James Hollis, Gladys Virginia and Frances Saleta.

Death Claims Mrs. J. W. DeWitt

Mrs. Virginia DeWitt, 85, Rt. 4, Comanche, long time resident of Comanche County, died Dec. 6, in a Dublin rest home. She had been in failing health for several weeks.
Funeral services for Mrs. DeWitt were held in the Comanche Funeral Home Chapel Friday afternoon, Dec. 7, at 2 o'clock, with Rev. Henry M. Chambers and Rev. E. N. Strother officiating.
Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery, Comanche.
Pallbearers were Tom Beene, Buster Robertson, Gerald Matthews, Bob Allen, Doyle Gillette and Otis Beene.
Singers in charge were Mrs. Hazel Streetty, Bob Eaton, E. S. Fagan, Mrs. Inzer Creek, and Mrs. Alvin Hafford.
The following sketch of the life of Mrs. DeWitt, was submitted by a member of the family: Mrs. Virginia DeWitt was born in Milam County, Texas, November 15, 1871. She passed away December 6, 1956. She was the daughter of the late A. H. and Saleta Beene.
She was converted and joined the Baptist Church when a young girl.
She was married to the late James M. DeWitt, November 15, 1888.
She had lived in Comanche County 84 years.
Mrs. DeWitt is survived by one son, J. H. DeWitt of Comanche; two sisters, Mrs. D. S. Beck and Mrs. D. H. Matthews; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
