Anton Schwan, 72, retired hill County farmer, died Thursday at a local hospital. Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Jude's Catholic Church and Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Holland and Boine funeral Home.
Mr. Schwan who resided at 527 Sixth Avenue was born July 20, 1887, in Odessa, Russia. He came to the United States in 1908 and was married to Julianna Schwan at Berwick, N.D., on Oct. 17,1911. They came to the Goldstone community in 1914 from Berwick and homesteaded. In 1943 they retired and moved to Havre.
He is survived by his wife, 15 children, one brother, 29 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The surviving children are Sister Antonita, Arcadia, Calif.; Mrs. Maurice (Ella) Falls, Inverness; Mrs. Mary Hall and Miss Julia Schwan, Havre; Mrs. Ivan (Tillie) Miller, Tulare, Calif.; Mrs. Gordon (Agatha) Sherman, Inverness; Mrs. Roland (Pauline) Laeupple and Mrs. Luverne (Theresa) Houim, Havre; Andrew, Joe and Paul all of Goldstone; Jack, Inverness; Anton Jr., Havre; Frank, Lothair and Bernard, San Diego, Calif. the surviving brother is Denis Schwan, Devils Lake, N.D.
Mr. Schwan was a member of the Catholic Church and a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
