Graveside services for former Porter county Resident Frank J. Bender, 89, of Evansville, Wis., will be 10 am Tuesday at Calvary Cemetery in Portage with the Rev. William Vogt officiating.
Bender died Thursday in Madison, Wis.
Visitation will be 4 - 7 pm Monday at the Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart.
Survivors include his wife, Frances; Three daughters, Mrs. Mary Cushman, of Baytown, Tex., Mrs. Marguerite Richards of Crown Point; and Miss Ruth Ann Bender, of Evansville; two sons, Frank Jr. and John, both of Janesville; one brother, Walter, of Portage; 19 grandchildren and three great-grandsons.
He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church of Evansville; Knights of Columbus Lodge No. 596 of Jaynesville; and World War I Barrack. He was a World War I veteran.
He was a charter member of the Portage American Legion Post 260; a 50 year member of the Porter County Farm Bureau and secretary for 25 years of the Pure Milk Association.
He farmed in Porter County from 1920 to 1956.
