John Bender, of Portage township, met death at Garrett, Ind., last Wednesday by stepping in front of a fast train on the B. & O. railway. He stepped from his engine directly in front of a swiftly approaching passenger train and was instantly killed. The remains were brought to the home of his father C. Bender, and were buried Friday.
