McMinnville resident and Warren County native. Flora Jane Grizzell Golden,89,
died July 6 at NHC.
A homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ, she had been employed by Genesco, Hosiery Mill, Campaign Shirt Factory, Gay-Lo Cafeteria and Stewart's Luncheonette, and had served as Soil Conservation Educator in county elementary schools for several years.
She was very active in community and church activities, volunteering as an adult leader for 4-H and young farmers and homemakers and had worked with high school boosters, the PTA and delivered Meals on Wheels. She was an active
member of Warren County Farm Bureau Women where she held various offices, and was a member of Wayside Home Demonstration Club, Wayside CIC and Warren Co. A&L
Fair Association. She was recipient of special awards from most of the aforementioned organizations on the local and state levels.
The daughter of Issac John and Julia Ann Sanders Grizzell; she was preceeded in death by her husband, Allen Ward Golden in 1995; brothers, Norman, John Pope, and I.J. Grizzell, Jr.; and sister, Dorothy Womack.
She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Bettye Golden of Brentwood, Jeff and Linda Golden of McMinnville, Jerry and Donna Golden of Chattanooga; daughters and sons-in-law, Janell and Billy Hawkins of McMinnville, Nancy and Gary Womack of Dade City, Fla. 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Edith Faye Bowling of Murfreesboro; brothers, William Harold Grizzell of Boston, Mass, Lloyd Grizzell of Wasco, Calif. and Floyd Grizzell of Bristol, TN and sister-in-law, Laurel Grizzell of Winchester.
Services were held at High's Chapel with Lynnwood Mathis officiating.
Burial followed at Gardens of Memory. Memorial donations may be made to Ronald McDonald House.
