Otto John Binker, age 90, of New Cumberland, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at his home.

Born March 16, 1923 in Hudson, PA, he was the son of the late Otto and Elizabeth (Mattick) Binker.

Otto was a Marine Corps veteran, serving during both World War II and the Korean War.

He went on to have a 35 year career with the Pennsylvania State Police, eventually retiring as a Lieutenant with Troop T.

He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in New Cumberland where he was a church usher, was involved in the St. Theresa's Little Flower Club and served as a longtime member of the Bingo committee.

Otto was, until recently, active with the Knights of Columbus as a 4th Degree Knight with the Bishop J.W. Shanahan Assembly 917 and was formerly a Grand Knight. He also served as a district deputy and State membership Chairman.

Additionally, he was a member of the Retired State Police Association of PA, the FOP Lodge 66, the American Legion, P.A.R.S.E., and the Izaak Walton League.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph and Frank and his sisters, Elizabeth and Dorothy.

Surviving is his loving wife of more than 61 years, Josephine M. (Radzville) Binker; his daughter, Carol Freeman and husband Chuck of Mechanicsburg; his son, Rick Binker and wife Joanne of Mechanicsburg; his grandson, Stephen Carter of Mechanicsburg; his granddaughter, Mary and husband Mike Jennings of Pittsburgh; his brothers, Paul and John of Hudson; his sisters, Julia Beretta of Montrose and Mary Drew of Hudson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
