Bryant - Alice (Schamens) Moeller, 82, Bryant, died Sunday, Nov. 13, 2005, at Parkview Care Center in Bryant, S.D.

Services have been set for 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 16, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bryant with Rev. Susan Grinde officiating. Burial will follow at Our Redeemer Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation hours will be 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2005, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Alice (Schamens) Moeller was born Dec. 19, 1922, to parents Olin and Abbie (Janssen) Schamens on a farm near Bryant, S.D. She grew up and attended school through the eighth grade in Hamlin County.

As a young women she worked for neighboring families with household chores and caring for children. She also worked for a restaurant in the area.

Alice was baptized and confirmed at the American Lutheran Church in Bryant.

Alice was united in marriage to Floyd Moeller on May 29, 1942, at Watertown, S.D. Floyd left immediately for the Army and served during WWII. Alice was employed in Watertown and Sioux Falls during that time.

To this marriage was born one daughter, Cheri in 1950.

After Floyd's return from the service they lived for a short time at Bryant before moving to Chelsea, S.D., where they resided until 1962. At this time the couple moved to Salem, S.D., where Alice worked for Hallas Hardware. After retirement the couple moved back to their hometown of Bryant.

Floyd died in 1998 and Alice has continued to live in Bryant, recently entering the Parkview Care Center.

She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church where she was active in the women's group. She enjoyed camping, gardening, tending her flowers, entertaining her family and friends in her home, and making quilt tops to be given to missions. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandsons.

Grateful for having shared her life are one daughter Cheri and husband Roger Schumacher, Sioux Falls, S.D.; two grandsons Ben and wife Shannon Schumacher, Andy and fiance Alicia Williams; one step-grandson Jordon Muser, all of Sioux Falls, S.D.; three brothers, Albert (Doris) Schamens, Hazel, S.D., Charles (Phyllis) Schamens, Watertown, S.D., and Orvil (Dorine) Schamens, George, Utah; four sisters, Ada Hanson and Evelyn Moeller, Canby, Ore., Jean Parrett, Portland, Ore., Ethel (Loyd) Sondergaard, Dell Rapids, S.D.; two sisters-in-law, Virginia Schamens, Hastings, Neb., and Edith Moeller, Bryant, S.D.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one brother Jim Schamens.
