BISHOP Lester Webb
CHURCH HILL - Bishop Lester H. Webb, 80, Route 3, Church Hill, died Sunday evening at Indian Path Hospital after an extended illness.
Born in Scott County, Va., he had resided in the Kinsport area most of his life where served as pastor of West View Church of Jesus Christ for more than 50 years. He also had pastored other churches in the area.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary Kimbler Webb, Church Hill; a daughter, Mrs. Bernard (Helen) Kendrick, Church Hill; five sons, Bishop Hagan Webb, Mr. Carmel, Clarence Webb, Church Hill, Ernest Webb, Kingsport, Paul Webb and Gene Webb, both of Church Hill; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Lucille Sandidge, Melbourne, Fla.; a stepson, James Kimbler, Kingsport; six step-grandchildren, seven step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Venoy (Buddy) Webb, Kingsport; several nieces nad nephews.
Calling hours were from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home.
Services was conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at West View Church of Jesus Christ with the Rev. Marvin Huff, Bishop Mack Arnold and the Rev. Tommy Benton officiating.
The body was taken to the church one hour prior to services to lie in state.
Burial was held in the Webb Family Cemetery.
