My grand uncle Lloyd Hillary Dodd was the 5th child born to my great grandparents, John Henry Dodd (20 Jun 1864 - 1 Sep 1943) and Mary Caroline Bragg (9 Dec 1866 - 25 Sep 1909), on Saturday, 25 Mar 1893, in Hinton, Summers County, West Virginia.

Grand Uncle Lloyd married Amy Lucille Hellems (15 Mar 1893 - 2 Mar 1972) on Wednesday, 19 Nov 1913, when they were both 20 years old.

They welcomed the following 8 children into their lives, as follows:
Mary Elizabeth - born on Monday, 11 Oct 1915, in Gabriella, Seminole County, FL
Rodney Jackson - born on Wednesday, 17 Jan 1917, also in Gabriella
Roland E - born on Monday, 21 Jul 1919, also in Gabriella
Margaret Ethel - born on Thursday, 27 Oct 1921, also in Gabriella
Helen A - born in 1925 in Louisa, Louisa County, VA
Lucille A - born in August 1927, also in Louisa
Lloyd Hillary, Jr - born on Monday, 3 Jun 1929, also in Louisa
James H - born in approximately 1932, also in Louisa

On Tuesday, 5 Jun 1917, Grand Uncle Lloyd registered for the World War I draft in Winter Park, Orange County, FL. He was at the time 24 years old and a farmer.

Grand Uncle Lloyd Hillary Dodd lived almost 25 years after his last child was born and 42 years and 7+ months after marrying Amy Lucille and he passed away - at the age of 64 years old - on Monday, 1 Jul 1957, at his home in Bithlo, Orange County, FL. He was first laid to rest in Palm Cemetery in Winter Park, Orange County, FL on Wednesday, 3 Jul 1957, in a plot one of his younger brothers, Basil 'Corbett', had purchased at the time of their father's [John Henry Dodd] untimely death on 1 Sep 1943. After Grand Uncle Lloyd's widow's passing on 2 March 1972, his body was disinterred from Palm Cemetery and was reburied next to his wife in Chapel Hill Cemetery in east Orlando, Orange County, FL on Friday, 24 Mar 1972.

Grand Uncle Lloyd passed away when I was just 3 years and 3 1/2 months old so, of course, I never got to meet or know him. He is missed, though, like all of my paternal grandmother's siblings and herself.
