Roy G. Johnson, 84 of Rockford, died at 6:45 a.m. in Swedish American Hospital. Born Dec. 13, 1922 in Rockford, the son of Hjalmar & Selma Johnson. Graduated from Rockford High School in 1940. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Married Margaret L. Brinker, Nov. 27, 1942 in St. Louis, MO. Employed many years as a manager at Amerock Corp. Roy was an active member of First Evangelical Free Church and an active community volunteer.

Survived by wife Margaret of Rockford; daughters Barbara (Ron) Herbig, and Sue (Jon) Schenk both of Rockford, sons Rick (Donna) Johnson, Phoenix, AZ, and Bob (Rayean) Johnson of Rockton; grandsons Jay (Dawn), Brian (Yuka) Ben (Trina) Geoffrey (Cherish), Andrew, Jason (Susan) and Randy; great grandchildren Lily, Declan, Maia, Lina, Riley, Kelsey, Kayla and Zachary; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sister Elsie Matteson, and brothers Carl, Bert and John.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thurs. March 1, 2007 at First Evangelical Free Church, 2223 N. Mulford Rd. with Jim Rosene officiating, Private burial in Arlington Memorial Park. Fred C. Olson Funeral Home assisting with arrangements. Memorials to Susan G. Komen Foundation, or Kids Around the World, 2424 Charles, St. Rockford, IL 61108.
