Funeral services for Arthur Francis McGee, 90, of La Plata were held this afternoon (Feb. 12, 1979) at 2:30 in the LaPlata Christian Church. The Rev. Stanley East and the Rev. William Galbraith conducted the services. Burial was in the Locust Hill cemetery east of LaPlata.
Mr. McGee died at 6 o'clock Saturday evening (Feb. 10, 1979) in a Kirksville hospital, where he had been a patient since Jan. 22. Before entering the hospital he had been a resident of Kirksville Manor Care Center.
Born Oct. 8, 1888 near Eddyville, Iowa, he was the son of William Alexander and Any Keene Moak McGee. On Oct. 23, 1910 in Kirksville, he married Iva Ellen Murray who preceded hin in death on May 23, 1964. Also preceding him in death were two daughters, Pat Mathes on Jan. 28, 1978 and one in infancy; three brothers and three sisters.
Surviving are three daughters, Dorothy Johnson of Butler, Irene Payne of LaPlata and Billy McGee of 316 N. Franklin; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren nd one great-great-grandchild.
Mr. McGee resided for many years in southeastern Adair county, where he was engaged in farming. In 1964 he retired and moved into LaPlata.
He was a member of the LaPlata Christian Church.
Bearers were: Billy A. McGee, Tommy Joe McGee, Bill Tom McGee, Ralph Howerton, Jimmy Guy Murray and Donnie Wilkerson.
