John G. "Jack" Scherf, 74, of 1909 Parkview Drive died at 12:20 p.m. Friday at Memorial Medical Center.
He was born in Springfield, the son of Frank and Elizabeth Zenders Scherf.
Mr. Scherf was president of Scherf Steel Inc.
He was a member of Elks Lodge 158, United Commercial Travelers, Ducks Unlimited Inc., Illinois Wildlife Federation, Illinois Association of Duck and Goose Hunters and Seven Hundred Bowling Clubs of America.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret (Duffy); one step-daughter, Mrs. Helen Brownlow of Springfield; three step-grandchildren; one brother, Al of Springfield; three sisters, Miss Louise Scherf, Mrs. Helen Lucasey and Mrs. Josephine Grady, all of Springfield; one niece and two nephews.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Cabrini Church, Monsignor Frank Dirksen officiating.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
