Thomas E. Brown, 69, of Hedrick, Iowa died of cancer early Tuesday, April 25, 2000 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa.

Thomas Edwin Brown was born June 25, 1930 in Linby, Iowa to Alonzo and Maggie (Linder) Brown. He grew up in Linby and graduated from Packwood High School. He married Carolyn Stevens April 30, 1950 in Missouri. She died June 25, 1989. Mr. Brown owned and operated Tom's Conoco Station in Packwood. He then became a rural letter carrier in Packwood for 35 years from 1960 to 1995. Mr. Brown was a member of the Packwood Christian Church, Linby Baptist Church, Packwood Lions Club, Ollie Pool League, and the A.F. & A.M. Justice Lodge 230 of Ollie.

At the time of his death, Mr. Brown was survived by his life mate, Patricia Bowersock of Hedrick; three daughters, Terry Collett of North Muskegon, MI, Angela Meeker of Rockford, MI and Tricia Meier of Hedrick; two grandsons, Jason and Brandon Collett; two granddaughters, Kristen Meeker and Clair Meier; two step-grandsons Trent and Tyler Meier; two sisters; Mary Pearl Richardson of Pekin, IA and Margaret Henrietta McQueen of San Diego, CA.

Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Stephen Thomas Brown; two infant grandchildren, John Earl Collett II and Mikkala Renee Meeker; six brothers, Harold D. Brown, William B. Brown, James W. Brown, Chester I. Brown, two infant brothers; and one sister, Florence E. Boulger.
