Maggie Linder married Lon V. Brown on October 29, 1911. They were the first couple married at the Linby Baptist Church. Maggie taught for one year following her marriage. Maggie and her husband then moved to Chickasaw County and Fredericksburg, near the Little Brown Church, where they farmed for five years. They returned to the farm near Linby where Maggie lived most of her life. Lon died July 15, 1954. The last 7 years before her death, Maggie lived with her daughter, Mary Richardson.
Maggie was a member of the Linby Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher, Bible School teacher and Assistant Superintendent. She belonged to the Eastern Star for 25 years, serving as Chaplain for 13 years, was a charter member of the Linby Zephyr Club for 57 years, and was a correspondent for the Richland Clarion, the Hedrick Journal, and the Plainsman.
Mr. and Mrs. Brown were the parents of 8 children: 5 boys, Harold, Bruce, Walter, Chester, and Thomas; and 3 girls, Florence Boulger, Mary Richardson, and Margaret McQueen. Mr. and Mrs. Brown had eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Maggie had five sisters, Sarah Fathke, Mary Smith, Alice Sheraden, Nellie Monroe, and Wanda McNiel. She was preceded in death by two sons, a daughter, a brother, three sisters, a grandson and two great-grandchildren.
