Commercial Advertiser(Potsdam Junction) 5/8/1895
Our people were very much surprised on Sunday to learn of the sudden death of John Desmond who has resided about three miles east of here on the Lawrence road for nearly forty years. Mr. Desmond had been suffering from a severe cold for a few days but nothing serious was feared until a few hours before his death when he suddenly became very weak and although medical aid was hastily summoned and passed away. Deceased was a thoroughly upright and conscientious Christian gentleman and enjoyed the respect and esteem of all who knew him. Mr. Desmond leaves a family of two sons and six daughters, two of whom are married, Mrs. Canoff of Springfield, Mass., and Mrs. Arthur Ames of Canton. Mrs. Desmond and the family have the sympathy of all in their great affliction. Mr. Desmond was about fifty-five years old and had resided here since childhood. Interment in the R. C. cemetery Tuesday
