Twila Kathleen Tripp, 85 of Yankton, SD passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at the Avera Yankton Care Center.

Kathleen was born to Johnathan and Stella Grace (Billups) Chancellor on June 16, 1929 in Scotland County, Missouri. Kathleen married Dennis Tripp on October 29, 1950. Together they raised 8 children, 4 boys and 4 girls.

Kathleen held a variety of jobs over her lifetime; her first was a school teacher in Missouri after graduation. After moving to South Dakota she was a baby sitter for others, seamstress, meat wrapper at a grocery store in Vermillion, Cook at the Volin School, owned and operated the Volin café, worked at Sacred Heart Hospital in the kitchen and then after retiring from the hospital, she went back to her favorite job which was cooking at the Gayville Volin School so that every day she could see most of her grandchildren. She was also participated in the 3rd Grade Senior Buddy program at the school and was usually pared up with a grandchild, which made it a very special time for all.

Her hobbies were sewing, reading, fishing, going to events that her children or grandchildren were in, and loved animals and most of all enjoyed family gatherings where she could catch up on everyone’s lives.

Kathleen is survived by her 2 sisters, Mary Norton, Olathe KS, Garnet Tripp, Kahoka, MO and her 8 children. Wes (June) Tripp, Gayville, SD; Alvin (Martha) Tripp, Utica, SD; Tim (Kim) Tripp, Hartford, SD; Pam (Rex) Bye, Gayville, SD: Tammie (Doug) Ruffle, Nashville, TN; Scott Tripp, Volin, SD; Janet (Darrell) Haas, Volin, SD and Crystal (Doug Romshek) Henrichs, Bellwood, NE. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren-Julie Babcock, David Tripp, Traci Golas; Jessica Tripp, Nick Tripp, Tom Tripp, Adam Tripp, Bob Bye, Terry Bye, Christopher Roozen, Kerrie Roozen, Amanda Frazier, Krista Tripp, Cameron Tripp, Jeremy Tripp, Megan Haas and Melody Starkey. She is also survived by 15 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Dennis Tripp, one infant child, her parents, her brothers Max, Paul, Lee, Miles, Joe and Lyle Chancellor.
