Paul Raymond Chancellor

Paul Raymond Chancellor, age 75 of Rutledge, Missouri passed away Thursday, November 11, 1999 in the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis, Missouri.

Born March 20, 1924 in Scotland County, Missouri he was a son of John Richard and Grace Billups Chancellor. On December 21, 1947 in Memphis, Missouri he was united in marriage to Shirley Johnson.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley Chancellor of Rutledge, Missouri; one daughter, Linda Kay Butler of Quincy, Illinois; one son, Paul Ray Chancellor and his wife, Shirlene of Rutledge, Missouri; three grandchildren, Sue Ann Chancellor, John David Chancellor, Chancellor James Butler; four brothers, Miles Chancellor and his wife, Bobbie of Memphis, Missouri, Lee Chancellor and his wife, Nadine of Kirksville, Missouri, Joe Chancellor and his wife, Donna of Burbank, South Dakota, Lyle Chancellor of Keokuk, Iowa, and three sisters, Mary Norton and her husband, Merle of Olathe, Kansas, Kathleen Tripp and her husband, Dennis of Volin, South Dakota, Garnet Tripp of Kahoka, Missouri and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Max Chancellor and one grandson, Jeffrey Chancellor.

Mr. Chancellor was reared in the Rutledge, Missouri community where he received his education. He served in the United States Army during World War II, in the India Burma and the Asiatic Pacific Campaigns. Paul did welding and blacksmith work as well as being engaged in farming in the Rutledge area. For twenty-four years he was employed by the Pepsi Cola Plant of Memphis, Missouri, before his retirement in 1990.

He was a member of the Baptist Church near Rutledge, Missouri. Following the retirement Paul's hobbies included fishing and creating jewelry from rocks and stones. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his grandchildren.
